Our Story
After living together outside of Parma, Italy for several years, we decided to get married and move to the United States in 2015. After a few years, we settled in the beautiful port city of Wilmington, North Carolina sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Fear River.
Over the years, we kept searching for the products from northern Italy we loved most- Parmigiano Reggiano and dry Lambrusco wine. While we could find the cheese at our local big box store, and we could find sweet versions of Lambrusco, we could never find products that had a quality that came even close to the quality we were used to in Italy.
During the quarantine days of COVID, asked ourselves: "What if, instead of waiting for someone else to import our favorites, we just did it?" It was then that the idea for American Fulfillment Online was born.
As the first generation of great immigrant importers retires and closes up shop, big corporations have slowly taken over the European food and wine supply chain. Without the personal connections and the passion for the culinary tradition, they are failing to bring the high-quality products you fall in love with when you go to Europe.
Our goal is to follow the tradition of family-run importing businesses, and rebuild connections between Europe and the United States outside of the corporate supply chain. We believe importing businesses are best operated by people who know the language, the culture, and the history of the food and wine they bring. That's why we import in small batches, without the use of middlemen consultants or companies, to ensure fresh and authentic products...and you can taste the difference.
In short: we aren't reinventing the wheel, we are just rebuilding pathways to the best ones.
Sincerely,
Virgil and Lindsey
